UW Women 1st 96 – 23 Nottingham Women 2nd
A dominant peformance saw our women pick up their second win of the season. Coach Alexis ensured everyone got in the game and our women took care of the rest. Scoring was lead by Caterina who poured in 20pts and earned herself Play of the Game honours for Week 2. Credit to Nottingham, who competed throughout the 40 minutes. Showed true grit and determination.
UW Men 1st 80 – 72 Anglia Ruskin 1st
Men gain some momentum in the league with a win over ARU. ARU boast a squad full of talent and depth, so the game was always going to be a battle. Worcester started off strong with some early baskets from Wilfrid Santhe, Fin Rennie, Humberto and Daijaun. However the introduction of first year student Jesse Kilara allowed Worcester to develop an early lead. His tenacity and energy off the bench saw him score a quick 7pts to close the quarter and stretch the lead 22-15.
Strong quarter from ARU saw them tie things up 47-47 by half time.
Our guys came up with a point to prove, with some better defense and limited ARU to a 10pt 3rd quarter. Things remained the same in the 4th and we managed to close things out with 20-15pt 4th quarter.
Our Men’s 2nd and Men’s 3rd team still in search of their first wins of the season.
