Andreas Farakos joined the University of Worcester as the 2ndteam’s Head coach in September of 2021, while studying the MSc in Sports Coaching. He also assists Coach Dean Blake with the 1st team and the Worcester Wolves.
Farakos, served on the Valencia Basket Club women’s staff for the last four years, as the director of basketball operations and as an assistant coach. He was a key part of the team’s success on those four years and in winning the EuroCup Women’s championship in 2021.
With Valencia Basket, Farakos assisted with scouting and the player skill development, overseeing the scouting for the EuroCup. He also worked directly with players of international level such as the Australian forward Rebecca Allen or the German centre Marie Gülich, and some Spanish national team players such as Cristina Ouviña or Queralt Casas.
Prior to Valencia, Farakos had many experiences coaching abroad, having spent some years working in China and Sweden.
Originally from Athens (Greece), Farakos moved to Spain when he was a kid and played at a high level in Spain, spending two years at the academy of Valencia Basket, among other clubs.
